November 15 - 18th
I hope that everyone enjoyed their long weekend! I went to a fantastic math workshop on Thursday of last week and am excited to try some of the new ideas.
This is report card week! Report cards will be handed out to students on Friday, November 18th.
Some new things that are starting are.... we are going to begin our Christmas plays! Only 4 1/2 weeks until the concert! Students who receive parts in the play will be coming home with a permission/contract to sign. We want to ensure that anyone who has a part is going to be there on the night of the concert, and will make a good effort to learn their lines and participate. This will take commitment, and we need to be sure that parents are aware of their child's part.
LA - this week we are continuing with our novel study "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". Students were required to finish Chapter 5&6 assignment, and read Chapter 7&8 for Tuesday. They will be working on the Chapter 7&8 assignment this week, as well as more reading. Chapter 9 & 10 assignment will begin on Thursday, and be due the following Monday. If your child is having difficulties with the book, please let me know.
Math - We are moving along on number operations. Last week was spent reviewing rounding. This is a difficult concept for some students to grasp. We will go over it again this week, and it will be on our quiz this Thursday.
Science - students are beginning their final project for weather. Their unit test will be on November 22nd, and a study sheet will go out this week. They should be bringing home their binders this weekend, so that they can study.
Next week we start swimming! Have a great week!
