October 30th - November 3rd

Hallowe'en is fast approaching!! We will be having a haunted house and party in the afternoon on October 31st. Students are encouraged to wear their costumes during the afternoon festivities. There will be snacks and a movie during the party.


FRENCH - students have been learning new vocabulary for L'Halloween. Grade 4s will be creating a Halloween number book in French to practice this vocabulary as well as their numbers up to 10.

MATH - We have almost finished our number concept unit. Students had the most difficulty with the idea of rounding, so we will be spending some additional time this week on the concept. Here is a website they can use to practice their skills.

October 16 - 20

We will be doing a writing test this week. Please ensure that your child does not have any appointments scheduled for the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. I will also be doing reading assessments all day on Thursday.

LA - students should have their historical fiction book read by this Friday. They have some class time to read in their groups.
HOMEWORK - read historical fiction

Math - We will be working on ordering numbers from biggest to smallest and smallest to biggest. There will be a quiz on this material on Friday.
HOMEWORK - Please spend time practicing basic facts on Mrs. Steven's website.

SS - students will be finishing their poems about the field trips. They will need to attach a picture to this poetry.
OPTIONAL HOMEWORK - bring picture from the field trip from home.

Science - We are continuing with Waste in our World, and will be spending more time on science this week.
HOMEWORK - Worksheet estimating how much waste you throw away in a week.

French - Students will be learning how to say pronouns in French, and will have their own set of concentration flashcards that they may wish to practice with at home. There will be a quiz on Friday on this material.
